1. People Are Fighting the Coronavirus With Mutual Aid Efforts to Help Each Other (Teen Vogue)
   
   “There’s nothing new in America about people not being able to work, being laid off or not having a job, or not having access to food, or not having access to reliable transportation, or facing any of those problems,” Andy Ratto continued. “It’s important to keep the mindset moving forward, [and] that the lessons we learn from this about how communities can take care of each other and how neighbors can come together [are] a potential solution to some of the hardships of coronavirus, but also a potential solution to some of the hardships that will continue to exist.”
   
   
2. Anti-Trump Protesters Target Jones Day, King & Spalding (Law 360)
   
   “We are taking a stand here to make clear to Porter Wright, Jones Day and other law firms that we will no longer tolerate this immoral and unethical behavior and that their efforts to assist the Republican Party and Donald Trump in overturning this election will be resisted at every step of the way,” said Andy Ratto, an organizer with the New York anti-Trump group Rise and Resist.
   
   
3. Dozens of ICE protesters arrested in Midtown (New York Post)
   
   “By knowingly and willingly providing technology support to ICE, Microsoft Corporation is colluding with ICE and its racist mission to tear apart families, and mistreat children,” said Andy Ratto, an organizer with Close the Camps NYC. “This is a moment of life or death for 11 million undocumented people in the United States, and we will not remain silent as American corporations profiteer from — and enable — human suffering.”
   
   
4. Protesters Demand Cuomo Ally Evict ICE From Manhattan Office Building (Gothamist)
   
   Andy Ratto, a founding member of Close The Camps, said that recent events have shown the need for a zero tolerance approach to individuals or businesses seen as aiding President Trump’s deportation machine. “The ongoing abuses being committed against immigrant communities are only possible because of cooperation from corporations,” Ratto told Gothamist. “Any company that facilitates ICE atrocities against our communities is as responsible as the government.”

   I realized there’s an approach that politicians and journalists sometimes take when interacting with each other and that it can be useful to disregard that approach. Sometimes that means speaking truth to assholes and sometimes that means challenging people in a way that they’re not normally challenged. I understand for the most part why journalists might not be doing that, but if there are things they’re not going to say or do, then I think it’s incumbent on the rest of us to take the opportunity, when we can, to say and do those things.
